Amy Hopkins
After the loss of his
grandfather when he
was 14, David felt a
calling to care for
others by entering the
funeral profession. He
was raised in the
small southern
California town of Ojai,
and met his wife, Amy,
while attending
American River
College of Mortuary
Science in
Sacramento,
California. As an
apprentice, David was
taught and trained by
some of the finest
funeral directors. His
experience spans the
Sacramento Valley
and Crescent City,
both in California,
before his work in the
Umpqua Valley. David
and Amy fell in love
with the beautiful
Umpqua Valley in
2010, when they
moved into Oregon to
get away from the rain
of the Northern
California Coast.
David is an active
member of the Church
of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints,
Laurel Lodge #13
AFM, the Grange, and
the Scottish Rite.
Additionally, he was
an adult leader with
the Boy Scouts of
America, holding the
rank of Eagle Scout
himself. Both David
and his wife enjoy
spending time in the
community, at local
events, and helping
people. Family, faith
and community are
big influences in their
lives.
Amy is also a
transplant from
rural California,
having grown
up in the
coastal town of
Crescent City.
Amy and David
met while he
was attending
mortuary
college in
Sacramento,
California.
David and Amy
moved into
Oregon in
2010 and
instantly felt at
home in the
beautiful valley
of the Umpqua.
Amy is an
active member
of the Church
of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day
Saints and the
Grange, while
also spending
much of
Oregon State
University
Master Food
Preservers and
volunteering
her time in the
food pantry.
Additionally,
Amy enjoys
going to Music
in the Park
events during
the summer
with David, as
well as
community
concerts and
plays. Family,
faith and
community are
big influences
in their lives.
